James joins Hazelbrook from EY Law where he worked as a corporate lawyer in Sydney and London, advising clients on private equity and mid-market mergers & acquisitions and multinational group reorganisations. James has advised a truly diverse range of clients from global conglomerates to local businesses in Australia, Europe and around the world. Highlights include listing billions of pounds of international debt as quoted Eurobonds for one of the USA’s largest oil refinery groups, and assisting a London-based PE firm with the acquisition of a listed Australian mineral exploration company via a scheme of arrangement.
James’ international experience and his cross-qualification as a Chartered Accountant and a former tax professional lends him credibility and insight across a full range of corporate and business matters throughout all phases of the business cycle. At Hazelbrook, James combines his breadth of experience with our commitment to high-quality and high-value legal services.
In coming to Hazelbrook, James is returning to his home town of Canberra with a small family in tow. He can’t wait for his twin boys to learn to ride with him on Canberra’s bike paths and mountain tracks, and grow up experiencing the exceptional quality of life that Canberra offers.
James holds a Master of Laws from the University of Sydney, and a Bachelor of Commerce/Laws from the Australian National University. James is admitted as a lawyer in both Australia and England & Wales, and is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand.
